The aluminum is sure better than a plastic template. What the description or picture didn't tell you is the openings are 1/16" more than what it saids. That is if it saids 1/2" then it's actually 9/16". I'm sure there's a reason behind it.
Please note that I ordered both the 1/2 in dovetail template and the 1/4" box joint template and the both worked on my third party dovetail jig. Good Product and reasonable price.
No special jig is required to use this template. The aluminum template worked well.
A third C-clamp was needed to secure the work-piece. I used this template using two "C" clamps and the edge of my work bench.
I will need to purchase a better spiral bit and to use harder wood to get cleaner cuts. The work-piece must be secured very well to keep it from moving under the template.
I was able to get perfectly spaced box-joints using 3/4" soft pine. I would like it better if the "finger" ends were rounded rater than square.
I'll probably purchase the 3/8" and 1/2" templates.
